I am a semi-retired clinical social worker. I say semi-retired because I consider my time spent writing as my current job, albeit part-time.
Suicide and suicide prevention has been a specialty of mine for over forty years. My experience includes direct client service as well as extensive study and research related to the topic. I have presented hundreds of workshops, seminars, and presentations on the subject for both lay and professional audiences.
Born and raised on the near south side of Chicago, I received a Master of Social Work degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Behavioral Science from George Williams College in Downers Grove, Illinois.
Teaching assignments have taken me to Boston University School of Social Work, University of Illinois School of Social Work, and Aurora University. I have also written articles for various organizations, including the National Association of Social Workers, Charity Channel.com and the British Showcase of Fundraising Innovation and Inspiration (SOFII).
“I Don’t Want to Die” is my first book and I have approached it from the viewpoint of the reader as a member of an audience of professionals and non-professionals alike. I try to speak to the reader, not at them, taking a more personal and professional growth perspective. My hope is that it makes the information more real, and hopefully, more useful.
